Come fly with me

There are a number of iconic images that sweep through a person's head when thinking about Las Vegas. For me, it's all about the lights reflecting throughout the strip.

The way that we experienced the strip that night, however, isn't something I could have described before this evening.

Courtesy of Groupon, we took a helicopter ride over the city that never sleeps. Like most people that have traveled, I'd been on a plane before, but this was different. Danielle took the backseat and I hopped in the passenger seat. Similar to a plane ride, the lift off was quite thrilling, but in this helicopter, this view was particularly expansive. The windows stretched from the top of the helicopter to just before where my feet where planted - it was spectacular to behold! For a while, I found myself closing my eyes just to take it all in.

To the pilot in the cockpit beside me, it was just another flight, but as we sliced through the evening sky, I could not stop smiling. It was beautiful. Flying high above the busy streets, it can make you feel so small, but not in a bad way. I know it's cliche - and I hate cliches - but that ride gave me a lot of perspective. All of the things I was worrying about and obsessing about...in that moment, it didn't matter. In that moment, I stopped trying to solve all of my problems and decide my future. And just as if the evening couldn't get any better, I started to hum Frank Sinatra's "Come fly with me" and as quickly as I started humming it, it immediately started playing throughout the aircraft's tight quarters. It was perfect.

Even after the moments had subsided, and the aircraft had returned to the ground, my head was still far up in the clouds.
